Oh my deer!

Some of you may or may not know by now, but the man I fell in love with in college, and soon thereafter tied the knot with….is a hunter. Yes. The man I LOVE loves to (legally) kill animals with a gun and then hang them on a wall.

I was never a “fairy tale-type” dreamer growing up but like most females in the world; I watched Disney movies. A lot. So naturally, I had moments when I would think about who my “knight in shining armor” would one day be. It wasn’t until a weekend at Tyler’s families ranch did I learn that my knight was probably not going to be covered in armor from head to toe…but rather he would be covered in leafy camo.

{Evidence that love will make you do crazy things. *Note: for the "yuppies" in the world reading this...I edited the image for your viewing pleasure. You're welcome.}

When you live with a hunter- at some point have to put your foot down on the amount of dead stuffed things that are hanging on your walls. If you don’t- your home could begin to look like the setting for a low budget thriller film.

So here are some great examples of things you can use to give your home that rustic chic feel without having to go absolutely overboard:
Fake it till you make it.
If the thought of hanging something in your home that was once alive gives you the heebie jeebies- This faux taxidermy pieces are a great alternative and a great way to add a unique piece to your wall decor.

Get creative with it.
Antlers around the home are popular right now but let's not get crazy with placing them everywhere. Painted antlers can add pop of color to a room as well as be a great statement piece to a table top.

Kick Up Your Heels.

{Photo Credit: Andy Warhol: Diamond Dust Shoes}

A couple weeks ago, I stumbled upon a pretty insane shoe sale at Steve Madden and walked out with a crazy amount of new heels that I just "had to have". You know the kind. We all have at least one pair...or two...or three.

The beautiful things about shoes is no matter how much weight you gain/loose...

Shoes will always fit.

This is how I justify splurging on a perfect pair of hot pink neon heels.
These are just a couple that I am currently drooling over.

My Skin Regimen

Growing up I didn't have perfect skin. In fact, I had the total opposite. Lets just say that around 13 puberty hit me hard and basically left no mercy on my poor brace-faced oily skin.  You can imagine how many guys liked me at this time.

My mom tells me that it wasn't "as bad as I remember" but from photos that I have since burned or hidden definitely told me otherwise.  Over the course of this battle with imperfect skin I had accumulated quite the impressive collection of skincare products. Many of which now lay beneath my bathroom sink in what I like to call my "beauty graveyard". If you said the product worked or knew a friend who had a cousin who had a step sister that said it worked- I would most likely buy it and try it. Sadly enough, most of the product I would spend a fortune on never kept up to its promises which resulted in many half empty products that just collected hair in my bathroom drawers.

(Ladies, you can relate to this issue I'm sure.)
It wasn't until recently did I learn that with using one (yes...just ONE) simple product, could I actually have the skin that I drooled over for years. You know the "celebrity glow" or the "#nomakeup #nofilter" look.

1. Purity Made Simple by Philosophy: This is one of my all time favorite brands. This face wash doesn't dry your skin out which is always a huge factor for me but yet leaves you feeling refreshed and clean.

2. Clarisonic Mia: For months I would glaze at this product in Sephora and go back and forth on weather or not spending over $100 would be worth it. And boy am I sure glad I did. Its amazing how much makeup this bad boy removes even AFTER you've washed your face and think you got all the makeup and dirt off the first time. I only use this product once every couple days since it does exfoliate pretty heavily.

3. Nerium AD: This product was a game changer for me and the one product that I found actually works. (que the hallelujah chorus) It's an anti-aging night cream that not only helps me prevent fine lines, wrinkles and emerging lines (lines not visible to the naked eye yet), it helps with the overall tone and texture of my skin as well as hyperpigmentation. When I say my makeup goes on 100% different now, I am not joking! This product replaced my under eye cream, toner and even masks.

4. Murad Pomegranate Moisturizer: Im really picky about my moisturizer. I don't like anything too thick or too oily, but yet something that hydrates my skin in the morning before I apply my makeup to give it a dewy look. With the crazy hot/cold weather here in Texas, this product is a must for me!

So excited to have my good friend Leslyn take over my blog today and show us what is inside her BAG for the annual Southern Girl Swap!! Enjoy and have a fabulous Sunday!! :)

------------------------------------------------

Hey everyone!

My name is Leslyn, and I blog over at Leslyn's Lovely Life!

So this month's topic is what you have in your bag... So here are the details!

First of all, I've featured this lovely bag before. But I have to do it again. Because i'm still in love with it.

It's the Pippa bag by Modalu. This is why it's named Pippa.

It's perfect, and it goes with everything. I'm just obsessed with it.

Okay. Now on to what I have inside the bag.

So this is my life planner that I'm obsessed with. I can't go anywhere without it. And then we have my journal... It contains quiet time notes. :)

For some reason, I can't rotate this picture! But I always have my wallet with me (duh). As far as beauty products go, I always need my St. Ives Oatmeal and Shea Butter lotion. It is life changing. Then I have 5 options for lips. C.O. Bigelow Rose Salve (for every day), Victoria's Secret Glossy Tint Lip Sheen in Pink Maniac, Urban Decay Gloss (came with Naked 2 palette), Revlon Lip Butter in Fig Jam, and Revlon Super Lustrous Lip Gloss in Peach Petal.

Make sure you stop by the blog- I'm having a Piko top and Jewelry giveaway! :)

Thanks to Bethany for letting me take over your blog for the day!

xoxo

Recent Logo Designs

It's funny how things work out in life. I can very clearly remember working on logo designs in one of my graphic design classes in college and thinking to myself  "This is such a PROCESS!...I will not be doing these after I graduate.". My professor, like I have said before, was great. He pushed his students to have perfection shown in their designs. Our process for coming up with a logo designs was a tedious and long one....but we ended up with a stunning logo in the end. I use to hate doing them and now I find joy in making them!

A Few of my Favorite Things- Edition 2

Every now and then I come across products, clothes and jewelry that I can't stop using or wearing. I think this is normal for the female race? Or so I tell myself it is. Starting off the New Year right with some fresh makeup and a killer pair of shoes can make all the difference in the world!

Anastasia Eyebrow Gel: This stuff has changed my life. Okay maybe not my life but it has changed how my eyebrows look at the end of a long day! After penciling in your eyebrows, simply sweep the wand across the eyebrows and TA-DA....Beautiful, non-crazy haired eyebrows.

Urban Decay NAKED 2: So I felt somewhat out of the loop when I got back to reality after the holiday season and didn't think to ask Santa for this little gem like the rest of the world had. Everybody was talking about it and nobody had it in stock. So naturally- I ordered it online and now I know what all the hype was about! This stuff is fab-u-lous. Perfect shades for daytime and nightime looks!

Gold Glitter Booties from Bloom: I was shopping in downtown McKinney with my mom one Saturday when I heard her gasp out loud after going into this little boutique called Bloom. Thinking she had spilled her coffee or forget her phone somewhere, I turned around to see her holding up these shoes with her mouth open. The apple doesn't fall from the tree when it comes to a love of a good pair of shoes I guess. Perfect height, perfect color and perfect amount of shimmer. It was love at first gasp.

NARS "Orgasm" Blush: Telling your friends about this product can sometimes make you blush simply by the name of it alone, but this blush is the perfect pinky peach shade for any skin tone! It doesn't go on too heavy, which I love for the mornings I do my makeup in bed next to a dim light. (Don't act like you've never done it.)

Kendra Scott Skylar Earrings: Oh Kendra, how I love thee. These black earrings go with practically any outfit and you will find yourself wearing them everyday as if they are glue to your earlobes.

"Deal Sealer Dress" by Blue Door Boutique: Okay. Confession. I actually don't have this dress......yet. But how CUTE is it?! Perfect for the office or a night out on the town. Dress it down with a blazer and BAM- You have yourself the perfect dress.
