DIY- White on White Crackle Canvas

As a lot of you already know- I am somewhat obsessed with looking at Pintrest on a daily basis and collecting fun and simple craft project ideas! About 2 weeks ago, I decided that I wanted to make my friend and her soon-to-be husband a little house-warming gift! I dont know the "official" name of this particular project so for now we will call it "White on White Crackle Canvas"

This project was SUPER simple to do and all you need is......

1. A canvas of whatever size you want
2. Wood letters (pack of 2 or more to get all the double letters you might need)
3. White Paint
4. Primer Sealer
5. Crackle Texture
6. Spatula
7. Super Glue
8. A Dachshund named Chloe....oh wait! :)

All of these can be found either at your local craft store, but I got all my supplies at Hobby Lobby!

First, I painted all the wooden letters that I would need to spell out "All You Need Is Love" and let that dry for a couple hours while I painted the canvas with the primer. This allows whatever you paint on top to "bond" better with the canvas allowing your artwork to last longer! Usually it takes primer 24 hours to completely dry before you can paint on top of it so this isnt just a 1 day project!

After the primer dries completely you take your Crackle Texture and spread it around your canvas in a back and forth motion with a large or small spatula (depending on how big you want your strokes) until you get the texture just how you want it! I used a smaller spatula but next time will probably use a larger one for a different look!

Let the Crackle Texture dry over night and whenever its 100% dry- take super glue and carefully glue the letters onto your canvas wherever you want!

When you done it should look something like this!

You end up with a neat white on white canvas piece!! Neat huh??

Happy crafting!! What are some projects you found on Pintrest that you found fun to do??

How to follow Red Robe Designs

Hey guys! Whew okay- Thankfully my wonderful fiance caught my little typo in my last print and it has now been fixed in my store and blog. Sometimes I think I get more caught up in the design, kerning, spacing, then the actual TEXT itself.

So let it be known...I am not perfect and spelling is my kryptonite.

Admitting it is the first step right??

Okay lets get down to business- I know a lot of people read my blog via Twitter or Facebook but did you know you could also "follow"my blog??? Its super duper easy to do!

See that little cute red chicka to the right of the screen? The one that says "Follow Me!" on it??? Well- all you have to do it click that icon and WHA-BAM you are now a Red Robe Designs follower!

See I told you it was easy! So what are you waiting for?! Get to following!

New Print: Proverbs 31:25

I have always LOVED this verse from Proverbs because it has hit home for me in more ways then one. This is a description of the confident woman that God calls each of us to be. I, like many of my other friends, are in a huge transition period of life. From graduating in 2010, getting a job, getting engaged, and now building a home all while planning a wedding that takes place in October… I think you will agree with me when I say that my plate is more then a little full. There has been many times before and after graduating that I wondered what my future would look like and even times when I questioned if God really knew what he was doing!

This verse reminds us that God calls us to be clothed with STRENGH and DIGNITY so that we may face uncertain times with confidence and without fear. So many times we forget how powerful and BIG our God is. Chrissie Dunham, one of my mentors growing up, said one night at a girl’s bible study that "Our God is Supreme." Those words have stuck with me ever since and has become more of a Truth to me with each passing year!

He is in control yesterday, today, and tomorrow.

Shark Week? Yes Please.

Once a year a special week comes along on the Discovery Channel that somehow, amazingly sucks you in for hours and hours until you realize its 2 in the morning and you have work at 8 the next day. This week is SHARK WEEK. Ironically this week usually falls on whatever week my family decides to take a trip to the beach which makes for an interesting and paranoid vacation. To those hardcore Shark Week lovers, here are some things I found on etsy that could make your shark week even better!

Maybe I was a weirdo- But was I the only one who had a shark tooth necklace from Sea World growing up?? Well here is a more glamourus and maybe more mature version of that...in earrings!

Having a shark week watching party?? Bust these cute little guys out and enjoy your favorite beverage of your choosing. :)

These are made out of an old fence! So creative!!

{{Here is a 4x6 printable notecard in honor of this amazing week. Enjoy.}}

I spy something with 4 legs and a long body..

Well since the parentals have left me home alone once again, its been just me and Chloe-bear hanging out at the house. Between my parents being gone to San Fran and Seaside-my pup and I have bonded a lot.

And with that comes lots of random photo shoots of her.

{She doesn't mind though. I think she actually enjoys being in front of a camera!}

We have been on walks...played with her ball....andddddd she's uh been itchy?

If you know the Briscoe family at all then you know we are lovers of all things Dachshund. I think every member of my family has one! We are clearly stuck in our ways.

Anywho- While stiffing through blogs one day-I came across one that makes me smile when its just been one of those days!

It's a blog all about this one woman, her dachshund and the adventures they take on a daily basis. She takes some of the funniest photos of this dog and really captures his personality! I honestly have no idea how in the world she gets that dog to sit still for longer then a second. Chloe doesn't do well with costumes or outfits. Come to find out she also has some of the cutest cards/magnets! These are two things that I ordered and got in the mail today!

This magnet reminded me so much of Chloe because she is also a lover of coffee just like her sister! In the mornings she can be found nose deep a good cold cup of coffee that my dad has left on the counter. If you don't catch her in the act-the coffee will be gone in 2.535 seconds- so you have to act fast!

I got this card for my brother while he is at camp. He's been gone all summer and im sure this will remind him of home :) Of course..it'll be a letter from Chlo herself!

So go check out here sweet store and give you pup some love tonight.
